 Alabama, created in 1819 - The meaning of the name is "Here we rest". The state capitol is Montgomery. It is the 30th largest state out of all 50 states which consists of 330 miles long and 190 miles wide.  There are 4,661,900 citizens who reside in the state of Alabama.
 
    The largest city located here by population is Birmingham. The largest city by total land area is Huntsville. In Alabama, the oldest county is Washington County & the youngest county is Houston County.
